to the introduction of topological methods. The basic notion studied is
that of an ISR: given a system of sets A_1, ..., A_m, and a graph on the
union of the A_i's, an independent system of representatives (ISR) is a
choice of distinct and independent (in the given graph) vertices v_i \in
A_i. We describe various sufficient conditions for the existence of ISR's,
and give some applications.
