From Zürich Airport

Please make sure that you already have swissfranks if you know that you will arrive after 22:00 local time.

By Taxi

The easiest and most comfortable way to the Department of Computer Science is to take a taxicab.

Ask the driver to take you to the Clausiusstrasse 59 in Zürich.

This will cost you about sFr. 50.- (taxicabs are fairly expensive in Zürich).

By Train

The less expensive way, costing about sFr. 6.- is to take the train to Zürich railway station.

Trains leave every 15 to 20 minutes and take about 10 minutes to get you to Zürich railway station.

Follow the signs to the underground train station to get to the railway station of the airport. The train station is located three storeys underground in the same building you arrived.

Please make sure that you have a valid ticket before taking the last stairs down to the platforms. Tickets can be bought at the ticket shop (the person at the shop speaks english) or at the ticketing machine. Enter the code 8000 at the ticketing machine.

By Tram

Follow the signs at the railway station to get to the tram stop. The trams in Zürich are numbered and the one that will take you to the Department of Computer Sciense is the number 10. To find the appropriate tram stop look out for a sign with this number. On the same sign a couple of destinations are listed, ETH/Universitässpital being the one you have to look out for.

Please note that in addition to the number every tram has its own color, the tram number is on a sign of this color - in our case look out for a tram with a light-red sign with the number 10 imprinted. On the front sign of the tram the final destination station is shown, make sure the sign reads Bahnhof Oerlikon.

Please make sure that you have a valid ticket. They can be obtained at the ticketing machine. You do not need to by additional ticket if you got to the railway station by train and started your journey within the area of the canton of Zurich (which includes the airport).

The tram ride will take about 6 minutes. Leave at the second stop, which is called Haldenegg. At the tram stop there is a church, the Liebfrauenkirche. About 20 meters from the tram stop, on the right side of the road there is a small road leading uphill. Follow this road and after a few meters you will see the entrance of the IFW-Gebäude ETH Zürich.

The entrance is opened from 07:00 to 19:00 (local time). If it is closed you will have to use the main entrance located at the Clausiusstrasse. To get there take the stairway to the left of the building. This starway will lead you to the Clausiusstrasse. There turn to the right and walk a few meters to get to the main entrance. The main entrance is opened until 22:00 (local time). At the main entrance there is also a telephone.

On Foot

Leave the railway station through the exit called Landesmuseum. In front of you is the river Limmat. Cross the road on the left side of the bridge and walk on in the same direction until you reach a broad stairway. Take those stairs, cross the road above and turn to the left. There is another stairway to the right which will take you to the Weinbergstrasse. The red building in the background is the IFW building. Follow the Weinbergstrasse for about 20 meters and you'll get to a small road leading uphill. Take this road and after a few more meters you are in front of the IFW-Gebäude ETH Zürich.

The entrance is opened from 07:00 to 19:00 (local time). If it is closed you will have to use the main entrance located at the Clausiusstrasse. Use the machine as follows:
